Hilary Hoof, age 86, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Friedens (County Line) Church in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with interment following at Ferguson Cemetery in rural Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Hilary Herman Hoof was born on November 29, 1928, in Young America Township, Carver County, Minnesota. He was the son of Herman and Hulda (Hoernemann) Hoof. Hilary was baptized as an infant on December 30, 1928, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, by Pastor George Nussmann both at Friedens United Church of Christ (County Line) in rural Norwood Young America, Minnesota. He attended District 57 School until the 8th grade.
On June 16, 1949, Hilary was united in marriage to Gloria A. Smith at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in rural Hamburg, Minnesota. Hilary and Gloria’s marriage was blessed with one son, Dale. On August 25, 1951, Gloria passed away in a car accident. They shared 2 years of marriage. On June 7, 1956, Hilary was united in marriage to Priscilla Jane Spangenberg by Pastor P. Schild at Friedens United Church of Christ (County Line) in rural Norwood Young America. The couple made their home in Norwood Young America. Hilary and Priscilla’s marriage was blessed with three children, Scott, Lori and Kevin. They shared over 59 years of marriage.
Hilary held various jobs over his lifetime, including farming with family, worked at the family owned store, Gambles, drove his own milk truck and picked up milk for Oak Grove and after retiring from driving milk truck he drove truck for Gemstone Concrete Company. Hilary was a lifetime active member at Friedens United Church of Christ (County Line) in rural Norwood Young America, Minnesota, being involved in the church choir and serving as a church trustee. He also was a member of the Harmonaires Choir and groundskeeper at Ferguson Cemetery.
Hilary enjoyed bowling and singing. He was considered a handyman and could fix anything. Hilary cherished the time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Hilary passed away on November 13, 2015, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Sister, Dorothy Herrmann and her husband, Delmer, of Glencoe, MN;
Sisters-In-Law, Joyce Ostlie and her husband, Lee, of Carver, MN,
Carol Smith of Norwood;
Nephews, Nieces, Other relatives and many friends.
Hilary is preceded in death by his Parents, Herman and Hulda Hoof; First Wife, Gloria Hoof; Father-In-Law & Mother-In-Law, William and Frieda Spangenberg.
