Howard Glenn Lemke

Obituary

Howard Glenn Lemke was born on December 26, 1934, in Round Grove Township, Brownton, Minnesota.  He was the son of Arnold and Esther (Polzin) Lemke.  Howard was baptized as an infant on January 18, 1935, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 24, 1949, by Rev. Gerhard Schmidt at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota.  He received his education in Brownton, Minnesota, thru the 8^th Grade. 

On June 1, 1957, Howard was united in marriage to Phyllis Schmitz by Rev. P. H. Franzmeier at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Benton Township, Norwood, Minnesota.  Howard and Phyllis made their home in Plato, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with five children, Gregg, Daniel, Patricia, Rob and Ryan.  Howard and Phyllis shared over 63 years of marriage.   

Howard worked at Bongards Creamery in Bongards, Minnesota, in the maintenance department.  He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato.  Howard was also a member of the Plato Fire Department for 23 years.  

Howard enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting trap, NASCAR and baseball, especially the Plato Blue Jays.  He loved visiting with his family, neighbors and friends.  He treasured the time spent with them. 

Howard passed away Friday, June 5, 2020, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 10 days.
