Service Information
Howard W. Clobes, age 79, of Fairfax passed away on Tuesday, December 13th at his son’s home in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 20th, 11:00 A.M. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, December 19th, from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Arrangements are with the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.
Obituary
Howard Wayne Clobes was born on September 22, 1937, in Fairfax, Minnesota. He was the son of Harold and Agnes (Volk) Clobes. Howard was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. He received his education in Fairfax and was a 1956 graduate of Fairfax High School.
Howard entered active military service on December 2, 1957, and served in the United States Air Force. He was Honorably Discharged on December 1, 1961.
On December 30, 1961, Howard was united in marriage to Carol Wismer at Grace Lutheran Church in Tucson, Arizona. After their marriage, the couple lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico where Howard worked for a company that did the telemetry work for missile tests at White Sands Missile Range. Their first daughter, Joy, was born there. Howard left when he was about to be promoted into a position that would have required him to wear a tie to work every day. The couple moved to Fairfax, Minnesota, where they farmed in Cairo Township and were blessed with three additional children. They shared almost 55 years of marriage.
Howard was a lifelong member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and served on the cemetery board.
Howard passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 13, 2016, surrounded by his wife, children and several grandchildren while in hospice care at his son’s home in Alexandria, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years. Blessed be his memory.

Siblings, Franklin Clobes and his wife, Mary of Wichita, KS, Arnold Clobes and his wife, Carol of Livermore, CA, Lila Panek and her husband, Bob of Manistique, MI, Armin Clobes and his wife, Juanita of Racine, WI, Loren Clobes and his wife, Michal of Mankato, MN, and Donald Clobes and his wife, Sue of Farnell, MN;
Many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his Parents, Harold and Agnes Clobes; Brother, George Clobes and his wife, Kay; and Son-In-Law, Les Sarne.
