Ilert Anderson

Obituary

Ilert Leland Anderson was born July 20, 1922, in Lake Lillian Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the son of Clarence and Lillian (Olson) Anderson. He was baptized at the Lake Lillian Baptist Church. Ilert grew up in Lake Lillian Township, and attended school at Hillside 53 in rural Cosmos.

On January 15, 1944, Ilert was united in marriage to Margaret Genevieve “Jenny” Johnson. They made their home in rural Cosmos, Minnesota. Four children blessed this union, Gary, Valeryn, Connie, and Richard. Ilert was engaged in farming all his life, and enjoyed John Deere tractors. Ilert also worked for Hanson Silo until the age of 80.

Ilert was a member of Rosendale United Methodist Church. When the Cosmos United Methodist Church opened in 1955, Ilert and Jenny were charter members. After the Cosmos UMC closed in 2005, they returned to Rosendale UMC. They had shared nearly 71 years of marriage when Jenny passed away on December 13, 2014.

Ilert liked horses, and enjoyed riding and taking family and friends on sleigh rides. His hobby was woodworking, and he made many special gifts for his family. He also enjoyed mowing lawns. Ilert and Jenny loved to go dancing to old-time music, and loved watching Bandwagon. Ilert loved his family, and cherished all the time he could spend with them, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ilert was a resident of the Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center for the last few years. He was always lovingly cared for by his family along with those at Meeker Manor. On Thursday morning, September 20, 2018, Ilert passed away there, having reached the age of 96 years and 2 months. Blessed be his memory.

Great-Grandchildren: Trevor (Tara) Iverson, Britt (Ashley) Iverson, RheAnna Iverson, Shaila (Victor) Gonzalez, Preston Iverson, Julia Iverson, Tayah (James) Raddatz, Brandon (Summer) Hinrichs, Brooklyn Hinrichs, Aylah Iverson, Isaiah Iverson, Caleb Beilke, Cameron Beilke, Halii Beilke, Kourtny Beilke, Kylee Beilke, Kayden Beilke, Maeson Henke, Micah Henke, Samantha Landvick, Christopher Johnson;

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Kaden Iverson, Kaylee Iverson, Kari Iverson, Kohlson Iverson, Averie Iverson, Gunner Iverson, Brynley Hernandez, Xochitl Gonzalez, Xitlali Gonzalez, Brekkyn Raddatz, and Everly Hinrichs,

Sister-in-law, Shirley Anderson of rural Hector;

Ilert was preceded in death by his: Parents, Wife, Margaret Genevieve “Jenny” Anderson, Son Gerhardt “Gary” Anderson, Granddaughter Kimberly Johnson, Siblings: Eldred Anderson and wife Leone, Beverly Macik and husband Ralph, Ned Anderson, and infant Brother Avis; Brothers-in-law, Curtis Thomas and Clifton Nelson; and by Genevieve’s brothers and sister and their spouses: Arvid Johnson, Eudora Shiro and husband Arnold, Raynard Johnson and wife Adeline, Everette “Spud” Johnson and wife Eleanore.
