Ilo Riebe

Obituary

Ilo Anna Matilda Riebe was born on November 7, 1920, in Winthrop, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Arthur A. and Frieda (Schuette) Bahr. Ilo was baptized as an infant at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at a Lutheran Church in Clarissa, Minnesota. She received her education in her home area.

On December 27, 1941, Ilo was united in marriage to Wilmer H. Riebe at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minnesota. This union was blessed with the birth of a son and three daughters. The couple made their home in Winthrop. She was employed at Green Giant Canning Factory in Winthrop and Mid-American Dairy in Winthrop. Ilo and Wilmer shared 59 years of marriage until Wilmer passed away on March 6, 2001.

Ilo was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop and the Ladies Guild. She was a past American Legion Auxiliary Member #314.

Ilo loved gardening. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and dancing, especially the waltz. Ilo cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When she needed assistance with her daily care Ilo became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop on March 21, 2011, and passed away there on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the age of 96 years. Blessed be her memory.
