Irene Rasmussen

Obituary

Irene Margarett Ella Rasmussen was born on September 26, 1928, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Ida (Maahs) Rannow. Irene was baptized as an infant on October 21, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church in West Lynn Township, rural Hutchinson, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 6, 1941, at Friedens (Peace) Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Irene received her education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1946.

On April 18, 1948, Irene was united in marriage to Donald Rasmussen at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Susan and Craig. Irene and Donald made their home in Hutchinson. They shared 77 years of marriage.

Irene was a devoted homemaker who found her greatest joy in caring for her family, nurturing her children, and creating a home filled with love, comfort, and lasting memories. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was active with Dorcas Club, Sunday School, the Altar Guild and assisting with funerals.

Irene enjoyed playing card games, bowling, golf, camping and traveling. She also loved bird watching and flowers, especially orchids. Most of all, Irene cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

When Irene needed additional help, she moved into Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. She passed away there on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the age of 97 years.
