James Bagan, age 79, of Hutchinson, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 9th, 11:00 A.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the service ALL at St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
There will be a Rosary at 5:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M.
Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Obituary
James “Jim” Thomas Bagan was born on January 30, 1936, in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Dillon and Estelle (Rust) Bagan. Jim was baptized as an infant on March 1, 1936, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on December 14, 1945, both at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Denver. He received his education in Denver, and was a graduate of the Saint Joseph High School Class of 1954. He furthered his education at the Police Academy in Denver for two years.
Jim entered active military service in the United States Navy on February 14, 1957, in Denver and served his country during Peace-Time. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 26, 1962.
On December 20, 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Sharon Price in Denver. This marriage was blessed with three children, Timothy, Terry and Amy. Jim and Sharon resided in Denver. Jim proudly served as a police officer in Denver for 25 years, until he retired in 1987.
On June 26, 1992, Jim was united in marriage to Marie Jennissen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandra, Minnesota. Jim and Marie resided in Alexandria, and later moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 23 years of marriage.
Jim attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He was a member of the Hutchinson America Legion Post #96. Jim enjoyed watching baseball, football, basketball, singing, watching old movies and going to horse races. He played baseball with the Denver Police Department and also was a coach and mentor for kids in the “Police Athletic League (PAL)”. Jim was a big fan of both Notre Dame and Denver Broncos football teams and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He especially cherished spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Jim passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016, at his home in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years.
