Service Information
Janice A. Beem, age 80, of Apple Valley, formerly of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, 7:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., two hours prior to the service at the chapel.
Obituary
Janice was born on August 1, 1943, and was raised in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, by her parents, Cecelia and Leroy (Sarge) Surges. She graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in 1961.
On May 4, 1963, she married William Beem, Jr. They went on to raise 3 children—Linda, Bill and Andy. Janice and William moved to Apple Valley, MN in 2012 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
After her children were in school, Janice worked for State Bank of Buffalo Lake and later Seneca Foods. Janice was active with her husband in their community working on the Buffalo Lake Ambulance Crew and riding with the Buffalo Lake Trailblazers Snowmobile Club.
Janice was wonderful mother raising her children; however, her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Kasey and Matthew. She loved to spend time with them and shower them with toys when they were little. As they grew older, she loved to hear about their activities and stories about what was going on in their lives.
During their retirement years, Janice and her husband enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and traveled to several race tracks and driver shops.
She was known for her home cooking including her fried chicken, Special K-asey bars (as she referred to them), banana bread and her world-famous potato salad.
Janice loved Christmas! She enjoyed baking dozens and dozens of cookies with her family and passing them out to friends and co-workers. She also loved to shower her family with gifts at Christmas.
Janice is survived by her
Daughter, Linda Beem of Rosemount, MN;
Son and Daughter-in-law, William and Laura of Lakeville, MN;
and her precious grandchildren, Katherine (Kasey) Beem of Farmington, MN and Matthew Beem of Lakeville, MN.
Janice was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Andrew Beem.
