Janice L. Nybakke, age 78, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, 11:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 3:00-6:00 P.M., at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Obituary
Janice Louise Nybakke was born on August 23, 1945, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ira and Helen (Seifert) Kenney. Janice was baptized as an infant in the Catholic faith in September of 1945, in Hector, Minnesota, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth in 1959 in Hutchinson. She grew up in Renville County, Minnesota. Janice attended grade school 1-5 in Hector, and continued her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1963.
On June 9, 1967, Janice was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Nybakke at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willmar, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Lyle, David, and Renee. Janice and Dick resided in Michigan for a short time after they were married before moving to Willmar, Minnesota. They later moved to Hutchinson. They shared 56 years of marriage.
Janice was a devoted wife and homemaker. She babysat and did foster care for many years, Janice worked at a motel for 10 years, and later at JoAnn Fabrics. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Janice cherished watching her grandchildren grow and attending their many activities. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and sewing quilts for her loved ones. Janice also enjoyed cross-stitching, fishing, being at the cabin, and traveling. Janice especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Janice passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson, at the age of 78 years.

Janice is preceded in death by her Parents, Ira and Helen Kenney; Sister, Colleen Otto and her husband, Robert; Brother, Michael Kenney.
