Obituary

Janice Pearle (Stites) Beich was born on January 29, 1937, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Orville and LuEllen (Gehrke) Stites. Janice was baptized as an infant on February 21, 1937, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 2, 1950, at Grace Lutheran Church by Pastor L.W. Moench. She received her education through Country School and at Brownton High School in Brownton, Minnesota.

Upon her first marriage to Donald Karg, Janice was blessed with two children, Sherry, and Douglas. On June 3, 1979, Janice was united in marriage to Donald P.H. Beich at Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. Janice and Donnie resided in Stewart, Minnesota. They shared 44 years of marriage.

Janice worked many places over her lifetime. From working on the farm with her family to places like Tongan’s Bar and Grill, Stewart Liquor Store, 3M in Hutchinson, Gibson’s in Hutchinson, Larry’s Red Owl in Stewart, and the Stewart Hardware Store. She also was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brownton.

Janice was strong in her faith and loved her neighbors in Christ, always looking out for others and sharing her faith, fellowship, and food. Lunch would always be had after a visit or playing cards. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing cards, watching baseball/softball, flower gardening, reading cookbooks, bird watching, making recipes – especially soups, jams, and desserts. My deepest sympathy to Jan’s family..I was honored and blessed with our many visits over the years as I cut her hair..we had more laughs, giggles, tears, and some very serious conversations all of which I will not forget..she never complained about her many health issues in life but was thankful for her gift of life everyday and always spoke highly of her family and always asked about mine! She will be missed .

Our thoughts and Prayers are with you in the loss of your Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother, My wonderful memories of Janice are at the Stewart Hardware Store where Orville’s coffee gang was a treasure to Stewart. There wasn’t a time where either my Father or myself would go into the Hardware store and not come out laughing or with a smile on our faces as Janice would make our day with great conversations and caring about how our family was getting along in life. The memories of both her and Donnie sitting in the corner of the Stewart High School Gymnasium cheering on the teams are etched in all of our minds of the players that played the games. They will be both greatly missed by all of us. May God’s Peace be with you all!! Curt & Jackie Burns & Family

So sorry for your loss. She was always nice and friendly. A year ago in July, Paula, my mom (Diane), and I visited several relatives in Hutch, Stewart, and Brownton. When we stopped in at Stewart we got to see Janice, Donald, and Sherry. It was a short visit, but I think we all enjoyed it. We saw Doug in Brownton too. Hope to see you again soon!
