Jay F. Alrick, age 95, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 18, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday 5:00-7:00 P.M., and Monday 8:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Obituary
Jay Francis Alrick was born on November 5, 1920, in Milaca, Minnesota. He was the son of Melvin and Olene (Aakre) Alrick. Jay was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at the Lutheran Church in Milaca. He received his education and was a graduate of the Milaca High School Class of 1938. He continued his education at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and graduated in 1942.
Jay entered active military service in the United States Navy on March 6, 1943, at Great lakes, Chicago, Illinois. He was honorably discharged on June 14, 1946.
On August 27, 1943, Jay was united in marriage to Margaret Nerhaugen in Duluth, Minnesota. During the war, Jay and Margaret resided in Hastings, Nebraska, New Orleans, Louisiana, and later moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota, in 1947. Jay and Margaret shared 72 years of marriage. This marriage was blessed with four children, Gretchen, Karen, Jane and John.
Jay, along with this father Melvin, started Alrick's Men's Clothing Store in Hutchinson. He retired in 1992 and his son John continued to operate the business on Main Street.
Jay was a member of the Breakfast Club, American Legion post # 96, and a member of the Jaycees and served on the City Council in Hutchinson. He was honored as Mr. Hutchinson in 1994. Jay was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and served as President of the congregation and other capacities.
Jay enjoyed traveling, golf and attending sports activities. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
In 2014, Jay and Margaret moved to Ecumen Pines in Hutchinson. When Jay needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of the Hutchinson Harmony River Care Center in Hutchinson on January 3, 2015. He passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the age of 95 years.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Olene Alrick; Twin Sister, Janice Vordale; Brother-In-Law, Jim Nerhaugen, Wes Welshinger., Reverend Richard Vordale.
