Jean Hanson

Obituary

Jean Marilyn Hanson was born on January 6, 1937, in Montevideo, Minnesota.  She was the twin daughter of Harry and Elsie (Mills) Sunderlund.   Jean was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at the Montevideo Methodist Church in Montevideo.  She grew up and received her education in Montevideo and was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1955, in Montevideo.

Jean was married in 1956, and moved to California with her family and later moved back to Minnesota, residing in Hutchinson, where she raised her 2 sons, Greg and Dan.

Jean was a loving mother and homemaker; she held employment at 3M in Hutchinson for 25 years doing various office jobs.  She enjoyed greeting her friends and coworkers daily.

Jean was a caring and generous person. She loved baking for her family and friends and always had a “sweet treat” to offer her visitors. Her cut out sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies were loved and known as “Grandma Jean Cookies.”

Jean knit and crocheted many scarves, socks and blankets for her family and friends to stay warm. Jean loved her home. She beautified her home on the outside by tending to the landscape and inside decorating for every holiday; Christmas being her favorite.

Jean took great joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson, Henry, and great niece and great nephew, Jenna and Jacob Caspers.

When Jean needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  She passed away there surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the age of 79 years. She will celebrate her 80^th birthday in her Heavenly Home.

She will be dearly missed.

Sisters, June Kurtzbein and her husband, Robert of Montevideo, MN, Ardis Maus of Hutchinson, MN;
Brothers, Dale Sunderlund of Montevideo, MN, Kenneth Sunderlund and his wife, Sandy of Winsted, MN;
Many Nieces, Nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her Parents, Harry and Elsie Sunderlund; Sister, Thelma McGuiggan and her husband, Bill; Sister-In-Law, Katherine Sunderlund, Brother-In-Law, Elmer Maus; Nephews, Todd Caspers, and Mike Sunderlund.
