Obituary
Jean Karen Dudgeon was born on October 20, 1944, in Littlefork, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Vance and Ethel (Paul) Gowdy. Jean was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at the Methodist Church in Big Falls, Minnesota. She received her education in Littlefork and was a graduate of the Littlefork-Big Falls High School with the Class of 1962.
On June 1, 1963, Jean was united in marriage to Duane Dudgeon in Big Falls, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Karen, Paul, and Rena. Jean and Duane resided in Minneapolis, before moving to Norwood Young America. The couple shared 57 years of marriage when Duane passed away on November 16, 2020.
Jean looked at doing Licensed Day Care in her home, not as a job, but more of a gift. She had always loved kids and doing creative things and really enjoyed doing daycare more than anything. As for her favorite jobs: Bachmann’s, Fiberboard in Oregon, and T.P.F. & C, and of course Day Care!
Faith was a very important part of Jean’s life. Jean was a member of Elim Covenant Church in South Minneapolis. Later when she moved to Oregon, she attended the Milwaukee Covenant Church and when the family moved back to Minnesota, they joined the Edina Covenant Church. While Jean lived in Monticello they drove to Buffalo to the Methodist Church. While in Norwood, she attended Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg with her dear friend, Betty Schrupp. When she could no longer attend church, she watched Charles Stanley and David Jeremiah. Jean was a Sunday School teacher, a “White Cross” leader for 25 years, an Edina Covenant Women’s Leader, and a Deacon of Fellowship. She was a children’s Awana Leader, served at “Loaves & Fishes” in Minneapolis, served as a Prayer Tree caller, was on a cooking team for Wednesday Night Suppers at Edina Covenant Church, and cooked the Wednesday Night “Soup & Sandwich” for three years at Elim Covenant Church in Minneapolis.
Jean enjoyed painting, taking photos, and reading. She also enjoyed doing crochet, puzzles, and reading. Jean loved genealogy and learning the history of her family and ancestry. Spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and friends was truly what she cherished most.
