Obituary

Jeanette Amanda (Zieman) Exsted was born on August 1, 1933, in Stewart, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Minna (Brede) Zieman.  Jeanette was baptized as an infant on August 2, 1933, at home, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 16, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota, by Pastor Gerhard Schmidt. She received her education in Stewart.

On February 24, 1962, Jeanette was united in marriage to Harry Exsted at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton by Pastor Reinhold Koepp. They were blessed with three children: Wayne, Russ, and Joanne. They made their home on a farm north of Glencoe. Jeanette and Harry shared over 64 years of marriage.

Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She also helped Harry on the farm. Before meeting and marrying Harry, Jeanette was employed at 3M Manufacturing in Hutchinson and Fingerhut.

Jeanette loved country living and the farming life. She enjoyed preparing meals for the guys in the field and loved cooking and caring for others through food. She took great pride in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and spent many seasons canning the harvest she grew. Jeanette also enjoyed trips to Duluth, Minnesota. Above all, she cherished family gatherings and the time spent together with those she loved most.

Jeanette appreciated the beauty in everyday moments. She loved watching for the first robins to appear each spring and always made sure to have grape jelly on hand to feed the orioles and finches. She spent many happy hours working on puzzles, especially difficult word search puzzles, and was an avid fan of Minnesota sports, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings (her favorite) as well as the Minnesota Twins. Jeanette also loved relaxing with her favorite television shows, including Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right. She will be remembered as a kind and soft-spoken woman who always said thank you, shared her smile freely, and laughed every day.

Jeanette passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at her home, at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 12 days.
Blessed be her memory.
