Joan A. Hendricks

Obituary

Joan Alice Hendricks was born on September 27, 1938, in Milbank, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Elmer and Alice (Reiman) Hecht. She was baptized and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. Joan received her education in Wilmot, South Dakota and was a graduate of the class of 1956. She then furthered her education at Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota for one year.

On July 1, 1961, Joan was united in marriage to Robert Hendricks at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Barry, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two children, Joel and Lisa. Joan and Bob resided in Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 57 years of marriage until the passing of Robert on May 22, 2019.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was employed as a teller at Security State Bank in Beardsley, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.

Joan loved playing and teaching piano, reading, and traveling, and spending time with children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and doing crafts.

When Joan needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson in September 2015. She was well loved and cared for during her time there. She passed away there on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Christopher and Lisa Hendricks;
Sisters, Donna Larson of Hood River, Oregon,
              Sandra Huff and her husband, Jim, of Detroit Lakes, MN,
              Karen Howell and her husband, Steve, of Independence, MN;
Sister-In-Law, Margaret DeGreef and her husband, Philip, of Pierre, SD;
And many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her Parents, Elmer and Alice Hecht; Husband, Robert Hendricks; Daughter, Lisa Hendricks; daughter in infancy; son in miscarriage; Sister, Linda Hecht, in infancy; Brother-In-Law, Reverend James Larson; Sister-In-Law and her husband, Dorothy and Lou Haanen; Brother-In-Law, Jim Hendricks.
