Joan Carole Pikal

Obituary

Joan Carole (Franke) Pikal was born on July 29, 1940, in Gaylord, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle (Ostermann) Franke.  Joan was baptized as an infant on August 25, 1940, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 11, 1954, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota.  Joan received her education in Gaylord, Minnesota, graduating from Gaylord High School.  She furthered her education by attending a business college in Mankato, Minnesota.

On September 22, 1968, Joan was united in marriage to Keith Pikal at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota.  Joan and Keith made their home in Brownton, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with two children, Christopher and Cynthia.  Joan and Keith shared 47 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Joan was a homemaker.  She was a member at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  Joan was also a member of a home extension group and the Minnesota Rabbit Producers. 

Joan enjoyed vegetable gardening, baking, shopping with friends and raising rabbits, cats and dogs.  She also loved to research the family genealogy and creating family trees.  Joan loved her family dearly and cherished the time spent with her family and friends. 

Joan passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society in Arlington, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years and 8 days.

Brother-In-Law, Leigh Pikal of Brownton, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Joan is preceded in death by her Parents, Elmer and Myrtle Franke; Son-In-Law, Robert Schacht Jr.
