John Frank Mackedanz

Obituary

John Frank Mackedanz was born on October 23, 1923, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Otto and Erena (Nass) Mackedanz. John was baptized as an infant on Christmas Day in 1923, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth in May of 1936, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Acoma Township, McLeod County, Minnesota.  He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1942. 

John grew up with his siblings on his family’s farm in rural Hutchinson.  He remained on the family farm his entire life where he continued to farm. He retired from farming in 2007. John was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

John enjoyed the great outdoors and loved to trap, hunt and fish anytime he could.  He also enjoyed watching his favorite TV show, Wheel of Fortune, going to the Dairy Queen and playing cards at the Hutchinson Event Center.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. 

When John needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of the Dassel Lakeside Community Home in Dassel, Minnesota on March 15, 2013.  John quickly became like family to the residents and staff of Dassel Lakeside and will be forever grateful for the wonderful care he received there.  John passed away at Dassel Lakeside Community Home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at the age of 92 years.

John is preceded in death by his Parents, Otto and Erena Mackedanz; Sisters, Agnes Mackedanz, Viola Mackedanz (in infancy); Brothers, Otto Mackedanz Jr.(in infancy), Edwin Mackedanz, Lowell Mackedanz, Herman Mackedanz, Warren Mackedanz, Norbert Mackedanz and Donald Mackedanz;
