Obituary
John “Jack” Charles Parpart was born on April 6, 1947, in Glencoe, Minnesota, to Vernon and Elsie (Zumhofe) Parpart. He was baptized as an infant on April 27, 1947, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 26, 1961, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. John graduated from Lester Prairie Public School in 1965. After graduation, John entered into the United States Army serving in Germany and also Vietnam.
When John completed his 4 years of active duty, he came home to Lester Prairie and started farming with his dad, Vernon. In 1980, Vernon decided to retire from farming, so John and his youngest brother, Jim, went into a partnership in the farming business for 22 years. He then farmed 10 more years with his nephew, Bob, before retiring.
John enjoyed visiting with people, especially with his nieces and nephews. He had a fantastic memory. John could tell you the stats from baseball and football games, when wars started and remembered stories told to him about relatives from the past. He also enjoyed going to Legion Bowling tournaments and going to Pla Mor Lanes and other local bowling alleys trying to perfect his game. John was a gentle man when it came to his farm animals, nursing them back to health with a loving hand. The morning he passed away he was helping his nephews, Mark & Joel, on the farm. John was a true farmer until the day he died.
John passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 27 days.
