John “Tom” Magee, age 87, of Aitkin, Minnesota, formerly of Hutchinson and Ortonville, Minnesota, passed away on, Friday, December 14, 2018, at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the church.
Memorials Preferred to Alzheimer’s research and/or Memorial Masses.
Obituary
John "Tom" Thomas Magee was born on June 7, 1931, in Little Falls, Minnesota. He was the youngest son of John and Nellie (Krych) Magee. Tom was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Little Falls, Minnesota.
In August of 1950, Tom met Marian, who was going to St. Gabriel's School of Nursing in Little Falls. On September 6, 1951, Tom was united in marriage to Marian Halbmaier at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Wadena, Minnesota. They were blessed with six children, Thomas, Mary, Theresa, Kathleen, Michael and Michelle. Tom and Marian made their home in Ortonville, until 2001, when they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. In 2017, Tom and Marian moved to rural Aitkin, Minnesota on Clear Lake. They shared 67 years of marriage.
In 1951, Tom began working for his Brother-In-Law as a Manager at Koroll's Shoe Store, in Ortonville. Tom also repaired bicycles and drove cab part-time to bring in extra income. Tom and Marian purchased Koroll's Shoe Store in 1972. He and Marian owned and operated the store, until they retired in 1991. After retiring, Tom continued to repair bicycles.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus for 60 years. He was also a member of the Jaycees, and the Civic and Commerce Association in Ortonville. Tom was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

Tom enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and woodworking. He also enjoyed traveling, attending church activities and watching the Minnesota Vikings Football. He especially cherished the time he spent with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Tom passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Riverwood Healthcare Center Hospital in Aitkin, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 7 days.

Tom was preceded in death by his Parents, John and Nellie Magee; Daughter, Michelle; Sister, Helen Koroll and husband, Peter; Brother, James Magee and wife, Florence; Brother, Lester Magee and wife, Thelma; Half Brother, Roy Magee and wife, Orlean; 3 Grandchildren.

As a teenager I worked for Tom and Marian at Korolls shoes and I remain so grateful for the guidance and support they gave me. Tom remains one of the great characters of my life

Thanks so much Lee. We have always thought a lot of you and your family. We hope that you are all healthy and happy. I will miss him terribly after being married for 67 years to a wonderful man.
