Service Information
Jolene “Jo” Klawitter, age 90, of Hector, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Buffalo Lake Health Care Center in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hector with interment in Hector City Cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Jolene Ann was born January 12, 1934, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ross and Anna (Jensen) Nielsen. Jo was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1952.
On September 21, 1952, Jo was united in marriage to Ronald Klawitter at Vineyard Methodist Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with six children: Keith, Kevin, Karen, Kent, Kay, and Kurt. Jo and Ron farmed near Hutchinson and later made their home in Hector. They shared 44 years of marriage before Ron passed away on January 15, 1997.
Jo and her friend Marian Sampson started K&S Catering in 1972 and served the surrounding communities until retiring in 2008. Jo was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hector and loved being an organist, pianist, and custodian. She also generously shared her musical talents with other congregations.
Jo enjoyed gardening and yard work, playing cards, bowling, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and watching a variety of Minnesota sports. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, her bowling team, and her cousins.
Jo was a woman of dedication, perseverance, independence, and patience. She will be deeply missed.

grandchildren -- Angela (Ron) Fischer-Sussner, Ross (Robyn) Klawitter, Wylie Klawitter, Reese (Tammy) Klawitter, Abbie (Jacob) Watson, Zachary (Beth) Klawitter, Mia Wittenberg, Reene (Jay) Haskell, Matthew (Jenna) Sampson, Joseph (Sara) Sampson, Katie Walters, Lindsay Walters, Ben Klawitter, Ron (Christina) Klawitter, Grace Klawitter, Leah (David) Trimbo, Kathy (Aaron) Dang, and Ken Klawitter;
great-grandchildren -- Emmett, Thor, Sophia, and Cora Fischer; Macie and Brodie Klawitter; Ezekiel Williams; Landon, Logan, and Matilda Klawitter; Trevor Jeske; Leo Steffl and Alix Watson; Max, George, Samantha, and Ada Klawitter; Moe Haskell; Elliot and Isla Sampson; June and Rory Sampson; Charlotte Klawitter; Michael Trimbo; and Martin Dang;
brother Thomas (Connie) Nielsen;
sister-in-law Betty Nielsen; and
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband Ron; brothers K. Allan (in infancy) and Charles “Chuck” Nielsen; grandson Stephen Jeske; grandson-in-law Joseph Fischer; and great-granddaughter Hazel Williams.

Jo seldom rested and was such a wonderful neighbor to my parents. She was a wonderful force in the life of our community catering delicious spreads of food that we all enjoyed! We were blessed by her gifts that she shared with all of us.
