On May 4, 1968, Jon was united in marriage to Patricia Klein at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two children, Timothy and Kristin. They shared 48 years of marriage.
Jon was a loving husband, and an amazing father and friend. Jon’s first job after college took him to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was a high school science teacher and guidance counselor. From there he moved to many different areas of Minnesota to practice psychology. He practiced as a high school guidance counselor in Marshall, Minnesota; counselor for the Canby Technical College in Canby, Minnesota; director for REM South Central Services in Redwood Falls, Minnesota; counselor for Lutheran Social Services in Willmar, Minnesota. Jon and Patricia moved to Hutchinson in 2002 where Jon became a counselor at Hutchinson Area Healthcare. He retired in 2009. Jon supported the Hutchinson community and was President of the Hutchinson Library Board. He was also a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where he enjoyed volunteering his time on the call committee, prayer team, men’s bible study group, and being a lector.
Jon enjoyed singing and was a part of the Crow River Singers and Christ the King Church Choir. He also loved capturing God’s beauty through his camera lens and reading a good book. He never stopped learning and was always up for the next challenge. Jon took many trips to the Boundary Water Canoe Area (BWCA) with his friends from Redwood Falls. Jon and Pat recently enjoyed traveling to Arizona and wintering there with friends from Hutchinson. He also enjoyed re-connecting and sharing jokes with friends and family through email.
