Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Isaac Adrian was born on March 8, 1930, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Isaac John and Marie Martha (Goertzen) Adrian. Joe was baptized as a member of the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake.
On May 23, 1951, Joe was united in marriage to Gladys Dalaska at the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. They made their home in Mountain Lake until 1977, when they moved to Breckenridge, Minnesota. In 1982, Glencoe became their home. Joe and Gladys’ marriage was blessed with 5 children, Joseph, James, Stanley, Kathleen, and Cynthia. They shared over 63 years of marriage until Gladys passed away on November 24, 2014.
In the early years of their marriage, Joe farmed and worked at the grain elevator in Mountain Lake. In 1962, he began working for the Mountain Lake Municipal Utilities as a lineman and worked in the water department. Soon thereafter he was promoted to Manager. In 1977, Joe was hired as the Director for the Breckenridge Municipal Utilities. In 1982, he was hired as the Manager of the Glencoe Municipal Utilities and he worked there until his retirement in July of 1992. Joe attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe and served as an usher, as well as a deacon for a number of years. Joe served on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association for three years and served as President for one year. He was also a part of the Breckenridge Rotary Club and the Glencoe Rotary Club for many years.
Joe and Gladys loved to travel, go camping, and spend winters in Arizona and Texas. Joe enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and deer hunting. A trip to Europe and fishing trips in Alaska were some of his most memorable times. However, the most important facet of Joe’s life was spending time with his family.
Joe passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Blessed be his memory.
