Obituary

Joyce Ann (Thaemert) Hoof was born on February 14, 1935, at home in rural Cologne, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Florence (Mielke) Thaemert. Joyce received her education in Waconia and graduated from Waconia High School with the class of 1952.

On April 30, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Hilbert Hoof at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children: Craig, Timothy, Joy, and Jonathan. They made their home in Leavenworth, KS; West Concord, MN; Ames, IA; Bozeman, MT; LaCrosse, WI; and in 2005, returned close to home in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Joyce and Hilbert shared 72 years of marriage.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked as a stock clerk at Kmart and later as a cashier at Degen Burgland Pharmacy. Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.

Joyce found great joy in life’s simple pleasures and creative hobbies. She loved tending to her flower gardens and took pride in the beauty they brought each season. Joyce also enjoyed collecting cookie jars, painting, and doing needlework, always keeping her hands and heart busy with something creative. She could often be found working on crossword puzzles and Sudoku. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing the Hawaiian guitar, a talent that brought her joy. Above all, Joyce cherished spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with those she loved.

Joyce passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Prairie Heights in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, at the age of 91 years, 3 months, and 8 days. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Morgan Hoof Hemmings (Davy), Jordan Hoof (Mikayla), Nick Koller, Katie Koller;
Great-grandson, Rhys Hemmings;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry and Florence Thaemert; Stepfather, Henry Koehler; Son, Craig Hoof; and siblings, Harold Thaemert (Marian), Lorraine Vinkemeier (Ed), and Irene Rolf (Harry).
