Karen and I were neighborhood friends at an early age. Our houses were on corners of the same block with an empty lot in between. Our families took turns mowing a path through the weedy lot, so we could run between our houses during the summer. We were both the youngest and only girls in our families. Our summers were filled with bike riding, playing with Barbies, running through sprinklers, forming clubs, and playing outdoor games with the rest of the neighborhood kids.. Karen was a year ahead of me in school, so once we were beyond “playing” age, we didn’t keep up with each other. It’s been many years, but I cherish the memories of all that fun. May happy memories warm the hearts of her family.
