Kermit S. Hanke, age 85, husband of Sharlene, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Lakeside Healthcare Center in Dassel, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakdale Cemetery in Hutchinson.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service at Peace Lutheran Church.

Obituary
Kermit Stanley Hanke was born on August 25, 1933, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of Frederick and Myrtle (Luedtke) Hanke. He was baptized as an infant at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School Class of 1951.
Kermit entered active military service in the United States Army on July 23, 1957. He served as a Dental Specialist at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. He transferred to Army Reserves on April 22, 1959, at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1963, having achieved the rank of SP4.
On April 25, 1984, Kermit was united in marriage to Sharlene Palmer. This marriage was blessed with three stepchildren, Julie, Michael, and Terri. Kermit and Sharlene resided in Hutchinson. They shared 35 years of marriage.
Kermit was a lifelong dairy farmer. In his younger days, Kermit played softball and managed the team. He loved going fishing with his friends, Tom Grobe, and Judy Strachan. He played many kinds of cards at the Hutchinson Event Center and made many friends there. Later in life, he learned to play bridge and that became his favorite game. Kermit followed all of Minnesota sports teams; he was an avid sports fan. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Kermit passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Lakeside Healthcare Center in Dassel, Minnesota, at the age of 85 years.
