Larry “Pissweed” G. Trebbensee, age 72, of New Auburn, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, with interment following in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Obituary
Larry George Trebbensee was born on July 2, 1953, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Lorenz and Irma (Alsleben) Trebbensee. He was baptized as an infant on July 12, 1953, by Pastor W. F. Mueller, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on November 26, 1967, both at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota. Larry grew up outside of New Auburn on a family farm where his brother and nephew still live today. Larry received his early education in New Auburn and attended Glencoe High School with the class of 1971.
On August 4, 1973, Larry was united in marriage to Catherine “Cathy” Totman at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn. They were blessed with two children: Nicholas and Jessica. They made their family home in New Auburn. Larry and Cathy shared over 52 years of marriage.
Larry held a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked for Schultz Excavating in New Auburn, MN, Shaw Tiling in Gaylord, MN, and worked for Herman Schutte at New Auburn Oil Co. He also tended bar at Dicky Bob’s in New Auburn and spent many seasons driving truck, hauling beets, corn, and beans. Larry took pride in his work and enjoyed the people and friendships he made along the way. Larry was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, MN, and served on the New Auburn Fire Department for 20+ Years.
Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing throughout the year. He also enjoyed gardening, watching sports, bowling, and pitching for the New Auburn fast-pitch softball league. Above all, Larry cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, creating memories through gatherings, laughter, and the activities he loved most.
Larry passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home, at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

Son, Nicholas Trebbensee (Cara) of Woodbury, MN;
Daughter, Jessica Bauer (Clayton) of Glencoe, Minnesota;
Grandsons, Noah Trebbensee, Nash Bauer, Knox Bauer, and Chet Bauer;
Brother, Roger Trebbensee of New Auburn, MN;
Sister, MaryAnn Panning (Stanley) of Green Isle, MN;
Many Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives, and Friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lorenz and Irma Trebbensee; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Darwin and LaDonna Totman; Aunt, Ruth Alsleben; Other relatives and Friends.
The family of Larry would like to extend a special thank you to the Hutchinson Cancer Center, especially the doctors, nurses, and surgeons who helped care for him over the past couple of years. They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Allina Health Hospice for the compassionate care and support provided during his final weeks.
