Lana Faye Benson, age 74, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, passed away on January 25, 2024, after a well-fought battle with cancer.
Services will be held at a later date.
Obituary
Lana Faye Benson (Ovitt) was born June 14, 1949, in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Bert and Gladys (Elmberg) Ovitt. Lana was baptized at Barronett Lutheran Church in Barronett, Wisconsin. Growing up, Lana loved reading books, being outside, and playing baseball at family gatherings. She went ice skating and cross-country skiing with her siblings. She received her education and graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.
Lana was united in marriage to William Ronnie (Ron) Benson Sr. in 1974 in Ripley, Tennessee. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Sheri, Ronnie, and Steven. Lana and Ron started their life in Minnesota in 1978 living in Brownton and Stewart before settling in Buffalo Lake. They shared 49 years of marriage.
Lana worked, and made many friends, at CSI in Hector. She also worked at NordicTrack in Glencoe. Lana loved cooking and was known for her fried chicken and potato salad. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and traveling to Wisconsin together. Lana was fond of thrift shopping and garage sales. She loved going with her husband to Louisiana and the many stops at casinos along the way.
Lana was a proud and doting grandma to Skylar, Maddax, Xavier, Lukasz, Mikolaj, Grarzyna and great granddaughter Violet. Lana always had stories to tell about her grandchildren and was happy spending much of her retired time with each of them.
Lana passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at home. Blessed be her memory.

Husband, Ron of Buffalo Lake, MN; Daughter, Sheri Benson (Special Man-Friend, Sean Lindahl) of Buffalo Lake, MN; Son, Ronnie Benson of Hector, MN; Son, Steven Benson of Litchfield, MN; Grandchildren, Skylar Benson (Ethan Fairbanks), Maddax Benson, Xavier Benson, Lukasz Benson, Mikolai Benson, Grarzyna Benson; Great- granddaughter, Violet Fairbanks; Siblings, Bill Ovitt (Linda), Sharon Stark (Kevin), John Ovitt (Judi), Dean Ovitt-Stoneking (Matthew), and Duke Ovitt (Kathy); many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Lana was preceded in death by her Parents, Bert and Gladys Ovitt; Mother- and Father-in-law, Ray and Nell Hatfield; Siblings, Karen Pottenger, Bert Ovitt Jr., Wanda Wells, and Timothy Ovitt; Sisters-in-law, Josie Benson, Brenda Stacey, and Kathy Benson; Nephews, Jeffrey Pottenger, Curtis Pottenger, Scott Johnson; and Great-niece, Remington Harder.

She was a nice lady. Great laugh! She was very helpful.
