Obituary
Lawrence, age 97, and Alice, age 89, of Fairfax, formerly of rural Hector. The two were married 69 years, raised, and are survived by daughter, Deborah (Gary Hanson), while an infant son preceded them in death. They were also preceded in death by their son-in-law, Ken Nelson. Survived by grandson, Thor Nelson of Nicollet, MN and great-grandchildren Myles and Amelia; and grandson, Carl Nelson (Olga) of Amboy, MN and great-grandson Evan. He is also survived by his sister, Millie Flink (Duane), and extended family.
Lawrence and Alice were residents, of late, in Fairfax at Countryview Estates, but lived for many years on the Anderson family farm in Palmyra Township, rural Hector, MN. Lawrence took pride in his 95 years’ time at the family home and was joined thereafter marriage to Alice in 1951. Along with Deborah, all three were active in farming and enjoyed rural life and their time with family and friends.
Lawrence enjoyed raising and showing horses in parades and community events, loved golfing, and also bowling. Alice found joy in travel, and also through crafts, including needlework and sewing, but particularly in refinishing furniture. Much of her work is still used and enjoyed by family members. Both Lawrence and Alice were active in church and civic functions, and hosting family and friends. They opened their home to a number of exchange students in the past, and enjoyed close connections with them as adopted family, and continued to do so before their passing. Memories of Lawrence and Alice are dear, cherished by family and friends both local and abroad.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, J. Ben Anderson (Selma, née Danielson); sister, and brother-in-law, Alyce Canny (John); and his brother, and sister-in-law, J. Donald Anderson (Arlein).
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Dahl (Mabel, née Hanson) of Fairfax, and older brother Lowell. She is also survived by many members of extended family.
