Leland E. Peterson

Obituary

Leland Edward Peterson was born on May 4, 1934, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was the son of Randolph and Alida (Larson) Peterson. Leland was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township, rural Hector, Minnesota. He received his education in Hector, and was a graduate of the Hector High School Class of 1953.

Leland entered active military service in the United States National Guard in February 1957 and received an honorable discharge in August 1957.

On September 1, 1957, Leland was united in marriage to Flora Eggert at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Todd, Julie and Rondee. Leland and Flora made their home on the farm in rural Hector. They shared 66 years of marriage.

Leland was a lifelong farmer. He retired in 1999. Leland was a member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township, rural Hector. He was also Director of the Hector Elevator.

Leland enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and camping, and helping Flora with her quilting. He also loved to travel. Leland and Flora wintered in Arizona. Leland especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Leland passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Olivia Hospital and Clinic in Olivia, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years.

Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Leland is preceded in death by his Parents, Randolph and Alida Peterson; Brother, Virgil Peterson.
