Leo Charles Hanson, age 77, of Darwin, Minnesota, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home in Darwin.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin, with interment in Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Military Honors by The Litchfield Honor Guard.
Obituary
Leo Charles Hanson was born on July 13, 1938, in Meeker County, Minnesota. He was the son of Lewis and Mary Ellen (Fisher) Hanson. Leo was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Litchfield, Minnesota.
On June 3, 1961, Leo was united in marriage to Sharon Dixie, at All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin. Leo and Sharon made their home in the Litchfield and Darwin area. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Allen and Dixie. Leo and Sharon shared 54 years of marriage.
Leo worked in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator for 40 years. He retired in 1997. Leo was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin.
Leo was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, collecting guns and riding his side by side Ranger. Leo loved animals and especially feeding his son’s animals. He cherished the time he spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Leo passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home in Darwin, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years.

Son, Allen Hanson and his wife, Melanie, of Dassel, MN;
Grandchildren, Zada Hanson and Gavin Hanson;
Siblings, Don Hanson and his wife, Jean, of Litchfield, MN,
Gerald Hanson and his wife, Leona, of Grove City, MN,
Carol Larson and her husband, Wayne, of Darwin, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Leo is preceded in death by his Parents, Lewis and Mary Ellen Hanson; Daughter, Dixie Hanson in 1963; Brothers, Merle Hanson, Bill Hanson; Sister, Shirley Zeimier.
