Leona “Kathleen” McNellis, age 69, of Winsted, Minnesota, formerly of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at her home in Winsted.

A private family service will be held at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe with interment in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.

Obituary

Leona Kathleen McNellis was born on August 12, 1953, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Leo and Agnes (Courtney) McNellis. Kathleen was baptized as an infant on August 23, 1953, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on August 12, 1964, both at. St. George Catholic Church in Glencoe.

Kathleen enjoyed playing basketball with her brothers in her younger years, liked cats and dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kathleen passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the age of 69 years. Blessed be her memory.

Kathleen is survived by her:
Sisters,     Shirley Vollrath of Hopkins, MN,
                 Sandra McNellis of Shakopee, MN,
                 Judy Landais of Apple Valley, MN;
Brothers,   Leon McNellis and his wife, Sally, of Eagan, MN,
                  Dale McNellis of Blaine, MN,
                  Sam McNellis of Glencoe, MN;
Sister-in-law, Marlis McNellis of Brooklyn Park, MN;
Brother-in-law, Vernon Brelje of Forest Lake, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her Parents, Leo and Agnes McNellis; Sister, Mary Jean Brelje; Brothers, Tom McNellis and his wife, Kay, Terrence McNellis; Sisters-in-law, Kathy McNellis (wife of Dale), and Julie McNellis (wife of Sam); Brother-in-law, Roy Vollrath (husband of Shirley).

    Kathleen was a friend when we were very young. She and her Mom would walk our house and stop in to visit. She was a big part of my decision to major in Special Education in college. I have fond memories.
