Leonard J. Kaminsky

Obituary

Leonard Joseph Kaminsky was born on October 8, 1924, in Silver Lake, Minnesota. He was the son of Joseph and Sophie (Kelash) Kaminsky. Leonard was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake.  He received his education in Silver Lake, and was a graduate of the Silver Lake High School Class of 1942.

On April 5, 1951, Leonard was united in marriage to Eleanor Klawitter at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Parish House in Silver Lake.  Leonard and Eleanor resided in Silver Lake and Hutchinson, Minnesota.  They shared 64 years of marriage, until Eleanor passed away on October 2, 2015.

Leonard was employed as an Assistant Manager in sales for Mueller Dairy Supply in Glencoe and Feed Mill in Silver Lake.  He also drove truck for several years and retired in 1989. 

Leonard was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Leonard held office as Village Clerk for Silver Lake for 4 years and also held office as Mayor of Silver Lake for 4 years.  He was a volunteer Fireman for the Silver Lake Fire Department for 34 years. 

Leonard enjoyed playing cards, tending to his gardens and going to the casino with Eleanor. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

When Leonard needed help with daily care, he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on December 26, 2009.  He passed away there on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the age of 92 years.

Sister, Margaret Wozniak of St. Louis Park, MN;
Sisters-in-law, Jolene Klawitter of Hector, MN,
                        Beverly Tenneson of Fergus Falls, MN;
Many Nieces, Nephews, relatives and friends.

Leonard is preceded in death by his Parents, Joseph and Sophie Kaminsky; Wife, Eleanor Kaminsky; Brother, Francis Kaminsky; Brother-In-Law, Chester Wozniak.
