Obituary
Beloved Mother and Grandma “Moanie” Linda Joan (nee Heimbach) Edwards went home to the Lord on July 29th, 2019. She was born the second of six children on November 21, 1954 in Lewisburg, PA to Joan A. (nee Luck) and Arthur L. Heimbach. She grew up in rural Selinsgrove, PA just down the road from her grandparent’s farm off the shores of Penns Creek. She loved spending time on the farm and learned how to make many wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch dishes from her beloved grandmother.
After graduating from Selinsgrove High School, she worked as a nursing assistant. She loved taking care of others and often shared stories about it. She would later be set-up on a blind date with her best friend’s ex-brother in-law, Eugene (Gene) H. Edwards, by her best friends’ family. She would later move to Bismark, ND to be with him. They enjoyed going to softball games and spending time with friends. From there they moved to Torrance, CA where they were united in marriage on June 5th, 1982. While in CA they had their first two daughters. Wanting to move closer to family they moved to Ohio. This made it possible for them to visit their families in PA more often. Following a job opportunity, they made the move to MN in 1988 and welcomed their last daughter there. They established their home on a farm between Bongards and Cologne, where they lived until Gene’s passing in 2009.
She loved playing with her children when they were little and was always baking, doing crafts, and hanging laundry on the clothes line. She was the best mom who would go down and check the ice on the pond to make sure it was safe to play on and cleaned the snow off it as well. She always had beautiful flowers that she grew in her yard. Besides being a wonderful mom, she was very talented. She could draw, write poetry, sing, and easily learned other languages. While being able to speak German, she also spoke Latin and would say her rosary in Latin referring to it as the language of the angels.
After the girls were older, she went to work at Econo Foods in Norwood in the Deli and as a Nursing Assistant at Ridgeview in Waconia. At Ridgeview she worked in the Mother/Baby and Pediatric departments. She loved taking care of children and they loved her. She retired in 2016 after being diagnosed with cancer. While she was ill with cancer, she never lost her positivity and was very optimistic. She loved having grandchildren and would watch them whenever possible. In retirement she would repair religious statues that she would find at antique and secondhand stores. Words cannot express how much she is loved will be missed by those around her.
