Obituary
Linda Jean (Rynes) Radtke was born on September 10, 1952, in Chisholm, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Duane and Dorothy (Ciatti) Rynes. Linda was baptized, had her 1st Communion, and was confirmed all at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm. Linda received her education in Chisholm and graduated with the Chisholm High School class of 1970. She continued her education at Hibbing Mesabi College.
In 1973, Linda moved to Glencoe, Minnesota, where she began working in the McLeod County Auditor’s Office. In 1986, Linda ran for the elected position of McLeod County Treasurer. She won the election and began her first term on January 1, 1987. She was elected four more times and served the public as Treasurer until her retirement on December 31, 2009.
Linda was united in marriage to Duane Radtke on December 26, 1983. The couple was blessed with two sons; Danny and Brent. They lived in Glencoe until 2016, when they moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared over 40 years together.
Linda was an Iron Range girl at heart and enjoyed outdoor activities like ice skating, skiing, swimming, fishing, and volleyball. She did however, despise ice fishing because it was too boring staring down a hole in the ice. She especially enjoyed spending time with family on Side Lake by Hibbing, Minnesota, where the campfire stories never ended and became more exaggerated over the years. Linda was a terrific cook (Miss Betty Crocker in High School) and really liked making Holiday meals to share with family. She enjoyed traveling and did an annual week-long trip to Florida.
Linda was always a friendly and caring person and would always look out for others before herself. She continued to do so after her passing by donating her body to Life Source which will help the lives of over 75 individuals. Linda passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 29 days. Blessed be her memory.

My sympathies to the family. I still have vivid memories of Linda when we both worked in the McLeod County Auditor’s Office. We had many laughs together and I was always happy to be her “second alarm clock”.
