Linda M. Retka

Obituary

Linda Mae Retka was born on November 3, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Mildred (Sieversen) Beck. Linda was baptized as an infant at Gustavus Adolfus Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, and later confirmed as a youth. She later joined the Catholic faith as an adult. Linda was a graduate of the St. Paul Johnson High School Class of 1966. She furthered her education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

On April 27, 1985, Linda was united in marriage to Edward Retka at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Minneapolis. This marriage was blessed with three children, John, Andrea, and Gabriel. Linda and Ed resided in NE Minneapolis, and later moved to Shoreview, Minnesota. They shared 25 years of marriage prior to Ed’s passing on December 12, 2010.

Linda was employed as a Registered Nurse in Public Health for Ramsey County, Minnesota. She retired in 2008.

Linda enjoyed crafting, quilting, stain glass, rosemaling, and embroidering. She also enjoyed traveling, and seeing the fall colors in Lutsen and Duluth, Minnesota. Linda cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

When Linda needed additional care, she moved to Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, where she passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the age of 76 years.

Daughter, Andrea Retka-Schuth and her husband, Ben of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Harper, Kassidy, Lincoln, James, and Amelia;
Sisters, Nancy Strom of Eagan, MN,
Alice Beck of Eagan, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Linda is preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Mildred Beck; Husband, Edward Retka; Son, Angel Gabriel; Brother-in-law, Richard Strom.
