Linnea Viola Ellanson

Obituary

Linnea Viola (Johnson) Ellanson was born on June 30, 1925, in Long Lake Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Carl and Axie (Sandberg) Johnson. She was baptized as an infant on July 19, 1925, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 7, 1942, both at Kansas Lake Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota. Linnea received her education in St. James, Minnesota, graduating from St. James High School.

On July 10, 1946, Linnea was united in marriage to Arthur Ellanson at Kansas Lake Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota.  Linnea and Arthur made their home in Odin, MN, Artesian, SD, Lake Crystal, St. Peter and Arlington, Minnesota.  Then in 1998, they moved to Glencoe.  Their marriage was blessed with five children, Kathryn, John, Lowell, Linnea and Peter.  Linnea and Arther shared over 69 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Linnea helped Arthur on the farm.  She was a member at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Linnea was very involved in the church as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher, sang as a soloist and in the church choir, played the organ and piano and quilted with the church women.  She also played piano weekly for the Good Samaritan Home in Arlington, Minnesota. 

Linnea enjoyed making clothing for others, quilting, sewing, playing piano and singing.  She treasured the times spent with her family and friends.

Linnea passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at her home in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 25 days. Blessed be her memory.

Linnea is preceded in death by her Parents, Carl and Axie Johnson; Grandchild, Aaron; Siblings, Olga, Eldora, Floyd, Melvin "Pete".
