Lloyd W. Schmidt, age 83, husband of Patricia, of rural Brownton, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his home.
Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, with interment in church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Military Honors at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials preferred to Hutchison 40/8 Nursing Scholarship Program, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
Obituary
Lloyd Wilmer Schmidt was born on September 11, 1940, in Brownton, Minnesota. He was the son of Herman and Elsie (Rademacher) Schmidt. Lloyd was baptized as an infant on October 6, 1940, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 15, 1955, both at Immanual Lutheran Church in Brownton. He received his education in Brownton, and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1958.
Lloyd entered active military service in the United States Air Force on January 27, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served his country with honor. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 4, 1963, at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, and achieved the rank of Airman Second Class.
On May 4, 1968, Lloyd was united in marriage to Patricia Olson at Kvitseid Lutheran Church in Milan, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Jennifer, Julie, and Jason. Lloyd and Patricia resided in rural Brownton. They shared 56 years of marriage.
Lloyd was a life-long farmer in rural Brownton. He also worked for Stan Ewald, Dale Ewald, and Dave Huebert. Lloyd retired in 1995. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. Lloyd was also a member of the DeGree Fleisch American Legion Post #125 in Stewart, and a former member of the Edward Ewald American Legion Post #143 in Brownton, and 40&8 in Hutchinson.
Lloyd enjoyed softball, bowling, playing cards, and going to Jackpot Junction Casino. He liked volunteering for different 40&8 activities and traveling with his friend, Jerry Block. Lloyd especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
Lloyd passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at his home in Brownton, at the age of 83 years.

Great-grandson, Wyatt Pereira Tofte;
Step-grandchildren, Errol Fisher, Cody Fisher and his family, Lindsey Lassahn and her family;
Siblings, Ruth Fredrickson of Hector, MN,
Judy Schumann and her husband, Dale of Hutchinson, MN,
Barbara Peik and her husband, Charles of Gaylord, MN;
Brother-in-law, Ron Sell of Glencoe, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his Parents, Herman and Elsie Schmidt; Father- and Mother-in-law, John and Grace Olson; Brothers, Earl (Joann) Schmidt and Howard Schmidt; Sisters, Marilyn Sell and Eileen (Dick) Gratz; Brother-in-law, Robert Fredrickson.
