Obituary
Lois Madeline Fredrickson was born April 13, 1931, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Wallen) Davidson. She was baptized April 30, 1931, and confirmed on June 11, 1944, at the First English Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. Lois grew up in Sacred Heart.
On August 21, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to Lester G. Fredrickson at the First Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart. The couple made their home and farmed north of Hector. They were blessed with four children: Deborah, Wendy, David, and Trygve. After Lester retired from farming, they moved to town. Lois and Lester had shared 57 years of marriage when Lester passed away on April 29, 2007. Lois continued living in their home in town until 2011 when she moved into Prairie View of Hector.
Lois enjoyed her life on the farm as a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. She had a huge garden that provided much of the food for her family. She filled the freezer with vegetables and the shelves with canned goods. She was also a talented baker known for her homemade apple pies, cakes and other desserts. Lois was known to keep a ready supply of ice cream, push ups, cocoa, coffee and other comfort foods for all visitors.
Life changed when Lois decided to get a job. Her first employment off the farm was at Telex in Glencoe. She then worked as the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center Activities Director for 20 years. She continued volunteering at BLHC after she retired by playing organ and piano for the residents and special events. Lois was an active member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church where she directed the Sunday School Cherub Choir for 25 years. She was a member of WELCA and participated in her church unit which made infant care kits, personal care kits and other items that were donated worldwide through Lutheran World Relief.
Lois was always giving of her time and talents and putting the needs of others before her own. She instilled in her family many important values: always have faith, volunteer, share what you have, do your best, be patient, sing, laugh and everything is better with food.
