Lora L. Beneke

Obituary

Lora Lorraine (Templin) Beneke was born on May 16, 1930, in Glencoe, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Tillman and Hilda (Vogt) Templin.  Lora was baptized as an infant on June 1, 1930, by Rev. Kolbe and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 7, 1944, by Rev. Alf. Streufert both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota.

On August 27, 1950, Lora was united in marriage to Glen Beneke by Rev. Alf. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.  Lora and Glen made their home on Glen’s family farm west of Glencoe, Minnesota.  They were blessed with four children, Lois, Susan, Dale and Sarah.  Lora and Glen shared nearly 67 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Lora helped on the family farm.  She was a lifelong member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. 

First and foremost, Lora was devoted to her family and encouraged them to follow their dreams.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and baking.  Lora also loved to play solitaire, watch cooking shows and read her cooking magazines.  Lora and Glen were close and loved to do things together, truly cherishing sharing their lives together. 

Lora passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, at the age of 87 years and 17 days.

Brother, Harold Templin and his wife, Bonnie, of Glencoe, MN;
Brother-In-Law, John Aul of Hutchinson, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.

Lora is preceded in death by her Parents, Tillman and Hilda Templin; Daughter, Sarah Beneke; Great Granddaughter, Regina Kallander; Brother, Chester Templin and his wife, Marcia; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Edwin and Regina Beneke; Sister-In-Law, Dorothy Aul.
