Lorna Shanahan, age 98, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 8, 2018, from 9:00-10:30 A.M., 1-1/2 hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Lorna Esther Rose (Grenke) Shanahan was born on May 23, 1919, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Carl “Charlie” and Emma (Haerdt) Grenke. Lorna was baptized as an infant on July 6, 1919, and was later confirmed in her faith on June 19, 1932, both by Rev. E. Kolbe at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She attended District #60 country school through the 8th grade.
On May 1, 1938, Lorna was united in marriage to Harold C. Pollmann and they farmed together for 25 years. This marriage was blessed with three daughters, Marilyn, Shirley and Sandy. On September 30, 1966, Lorna was united in marriage to Joseph Shanahan. Lorna made her home in Glencoe, Minnesota.
At an early age, Lorna worked at home and helped neighbors. After they retired from farming Lorna worked at Meyer’s Cleaners for 17 years, Telex for 10 years and then helped with the Senior Citizens for 5 years. She lived alone in Korngeibel Apartments for 27 years where she helped take care of the apartments for 4 years. When her eye sight failed because of macular degeneration, she moved to Long Term Care in Glencoe. She was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, where she was a member of the LWML for 8 years and a member of the Ladies’ Quilting group.
Lorna’s family meant everything to her and she treasured the time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed doing alterations for other people, making many beautiful quilts and baby quilts and embroidering many sets of dish towels. Lorna loved to read and work in puzzle books until it became too difficult to see.
Lorna passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 98 years, 7 months and 11 days.

8 Grandchildren, Jim Jensen Jr. and his wife, Laura, Janell Knudsen and her husband, David, Jolene Durant and her husband, Rick, Lori Allen, Pam Allen and her fiancee, Jon Pieters, Anissa Parsons and her husband, Jeff, Jeff Templin and his wife, Angela, Angela Marshall and her husband, Tony;
10 Great Grandchildren, Sarah & Matt Jensen, Carlie Knudsen, Lindsey Pieters, Nichole & Jaden Parsons, Breana & Gracey Templin, Kali & Anthony Marshall;
Sister, Wilma Schmidt;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.
Lorna was preceded in death by her Parents, Charlie and Emma Grenke; Husbands, Harold Pollmann, Joseph Shanahan; Sisters, Elda (Leonard) Pautz, Elvira (Forest) Rhubendahl, Evelyn (Ervin) Schiroo, Marlys (Melvin) Tessmer; Brothers, Herbert (Elva) Grenke, Raymond (Ruth) Grenke; Brother-In-Law, John Schmidt.
