Service Information
Lou Ella F. Benson, age 96, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, formerly of Cosmos, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 P.M., and will continue one hour prior to the service ALL at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos.
Obituary
Lou Ella Florence Selma Benson was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1927, in Cosmos, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Otto and Mabel (Buck) Flemming. Lou Ella was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. She received her education in Cosmos and Litchfield, Minnesota.
On September 29, 1946, Lou Ella was united in marriage to Lowell E. Benson at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Julie. Lou Ella and Lowell resided in Cosmos and Litchfield. They shared 58 years of marriage prior to the passing of Lowell on February 23, 2005.
Lou Ella was employed as a cashier at several grocery stores in Cosmos and Litchfield, and opened the first Sears order desk in Litchfield. She retired in 1989. Lou Ella was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos and was active in PLCW, Bethel Series, Jr. Lutherans and Release Time leader. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and participated in league bowling.
Lou Ella enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, and going for car rides. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Lou Ella passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 96 years.

Brothers, Duane Flemming and his wife, Su of Coon Rapids, MN,
Dale Flemming and his wife, Judy of Alexandria, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Lou Ella is preceded in death by her Parents, Otto and Mabel Flemming; Husband, Lowell Benson; Brother, Rueben “Bud” Flemming and Sister-in-law, Joyce Flemming; Sister, Darlene Draeger and Brother-in-law, Arnold Draeger; Many other relatives and friends.

We won’t be able to come to the funeral as we don’t drive out of a few miles where we live in the “Waters” Plymouth. We know it is so hard to loose a Mother and she was a great lady. Lots of good memories of her and your Dad.
