Luella Dahlke, age 86, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, 2017, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Luella Dahlke was born on September 21, 1930, in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of August and Clara (Brockoff) Wentzlaff. Luella was baptized as an infant on October 12, 1930, by Rev. R. W. Rottmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle, Minnesota, and confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 2, 1944, by Rev. John Bradtke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, Minnesota. She received her education in Arlington, Minnesota.
On July 11, 1948, Luella was united in marriage to Victor Dahlke by Rev. John Bradtke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm in Sibley County. Their marriage was blessed with seven sons, Myron, Virgil, Dale, Keith, Kurt, Brian and Gregg. Luella & Victor shared over 60 years of marriage until Victor passed away on August 6, 2008.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Luella worked alongside her husband on the family farm and always had a huge garden. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington for many years where she taught Sunday School, worked in the office and was active in the Ladies’ Aid Association and later transferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota where she enjoyed being part of the LWML.
Luella served others, with her family being first. She loved spending time with each one and her greatest joy was to feed them a good meal. Her nickname was Doctor Luella because she always had good medical advice. She was caring, inquisitive and fair.
Luella passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was 86 years, 6 months and 18 days.
