Obituary

Lynette Kay Carrigan was born on August 9, 1951, in Willmar, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frederick and Lenora (Sogge) Bengston. Lynette was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 12, 1966, both at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi, Minnesota. She was raised in Kandiyohi, and was a graduate of the Willmar High School Class of 1969.

On April 14, 1973, Lynette was united in marriage to James Carrigan at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. This marriage was blessed with three children, Jayson, Elizabeth, and Kyle. Lynette and James made their home in Biscay, Minnesota. They shared 53 years of marriage.

Lynette worked a variety of jobs in her lifetime, including 3M and HTI. Her favorite place of employment was her most recent job at Maurices, where she worked in the spring and summer months. Lynette enjoyed purchasing new clothes with her wages, and enjoyed working with her coworkers, who she said were great people.

Lynette enjoyed baking cakes, bars and cookies. She also enjoyed crafting. Lynette was always sharing her treats or crafts with her friends and family, often giving her crafts as gifts. She was known to be quite a talker, stopping in public to chat with anyone she knew for any length of time. Lynette always looked forward to family week at Uncle Jay’s cabin every year. She also enjoyed traveling to Yuma, Arizona, every winter. She always had a great day when she had a visit from her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Lynette passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her home in Biscay, at the age of 74 years.

Blessed be her memory.

My deepest sympathies to you, Jim, and the family. My heart goes out to you all.
As a kid growing up next door, It was always a great day when I stopped over and Lyn was making her batch of monster cookies !! They were the best !!!
I will also remember her for her love of talking and having a story to tell !! It didn’t matter what we were talking about, she always had a way to make a 5 minute conversation into 15, or longer in most cases. I will miss those when I’m over to Mom & Dad’s. I always knew I would must likely see her and have that chat.
I’m so sorry for the pain and hurt your feeling at this time. Hold onto the memories, they will help carry you through.

    Dear Lynette,
Although we worked along side each other for a short time there wasn’t one second you didn’t make me smile or laugh every shift. You lit up every room you walked into and opened your arms to everyone you talked to.

My deepest sympathies to Lynette’s family she was and will always stay in our prayers and our hearts.

Lynn’s gift was gab was truly a gift. Her stories were quite entertaining! Her smile and laughter lit up the room. Her baking was like no other and her huge heart shown through so bright. You will really be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of her family and friends.

It just broke my heart when Jim told me of Lynn’s passing. My 2 brothers and I grew up with her children. Beth was at my house or she was at mine, she is such a great friend. Both sets of parents had a groomsman stand up for eachother in the same year and both lost their wives months apart.
    All my love, Kari Schwanke
