Marcella Polkowske, age 91, of Fairfax passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax with interment in Fort Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota, at a later date.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M., ALL at church.

Obituary
Marcella Ann (Engel) Polkowske was born on November 14, 1932, in Stewartville, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Leona (Roberts) Engel. Marcella was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at the Methodist Church in Stewartville, Minnesota. She received her education in Stewartville.
On October 1, 1948, Marcella was united in marriage to John Polkowske at the Methodist Church in Stewartville. After their marriage, the couple resided in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Marcella and John were blessed with five children, Dennis, Debbie, Sheri, Vicki and James.
In 1954, Marcella and her husband, John purchased a restaurant from Bill Lentz and renamed it John’s Café. They owned it until 1957. She worked for Warren Prax delivering bakery items to various towns in the area. She worked for 16 years at the Fairfax Grain and Supply and 16 years at the Redwood Falls Elevator as a bookkeeper.
Marcella was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairfax.
Marcella loved to go fishing, play card games, especially cribbage, flowers, gardening and canning. Nothing tasted better than Grandma Marcella’s pickles! She enjoyed golfing, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest love though was her husband, John. They were blessed with over 75 years of marriage.
Marcella passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm at the age of 91 years. Blessed be her memory.

Marcella was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Leona Engel; Sisters, Margaret (Don) Hodge, Pauline (Joe) Csercsevits; Brother, Paul Engel.
