Marian J. Danielson’s long courageous journey with dementia ended, with her husband Tom and niece Bonnie at her side, as she peacefully passed away at home on September 1, 2023, at the age of 77. Marian was a caregiver to many, and never asked for anything in return.
The family will have a Celebration of Life in May 2024 at The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Obituary
Marian J. Danielson was born on April 15, 1946, in Wadena, MN, the daughter of Joeseph and Edith Mounts. She graduated with honors from Henning High School in 1964.
After high school, Marian and a friend ventured to Minneapolis in pursuit of the American dream. In the summer of 1968, Marian and Tom meet on a blind date. Three weeks later, Tom had to return to Vietnam. In December, Tom returned and on January 10, 1969, they were married. They finished Tom’s last tour of duty in London, England for two years.
In 1973, Marian and Tom were blessed with a son, Anthony. After Anthony was in junior high, Marian started her academic journey. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and her master’s degree from St. Catherine University / St. Thomas University. Marian then spent twenty-plus years working with Senior Community Services as a social worker with seniors.
Marian was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She had a wide variety of interests. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing a meal with family and friends. For those who knew Marian, her true passion was her flower garden. God gave her a gift to nurture beautiful flowers and plants.
Marian is survived by her loving family: husband of over 54 years, Tom of Waconia: son, Anthony of Shoreview, and numerous loving family and close friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Joeseph and Edith Mounts, brother Robert Mounts, and brother Raymond Mounts.
Marian will be greatly missed by all. Until we meet again, I love you pumpkin.
