Obituary
Marian L. Dvorak was born on January 18, 1938, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the birth daughter of John and Ida (Hanke) Gorr. Marian was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Marian was given a loving home provided by Charley and Gustie Votava at the age of 14 growing up in the Hutchinson area, graduating with the Hutchinson High School Class of 1956.
Marian worked at “The Beacon Café” on Bluff Street in Hutchinson. Marian would high tail it back to the café after a night of roller skating so she could serve the crowd coming in where many malts, burgers, fries and fond memories were made, including meeting the Man of her dreams, Jim Dvorak.
On September 9, 1956, Marian was united in marriage to Jim Dvorak at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. They were blessed in sharing 58 years of marriage and raising their children Carolyn and Chuck in Cosmos MN. Their winters were spent in their homes in Arizona and finally Florida.
Marian enjoyed her time working in the office at 3M in Hutchinson, but upon having their first child, and doing the bookwork of Jim’s business: Jim’s Motor Shop in Cosmos, they chose to make “It” work so Marian could be the loving homemaker and mother she so longed to be.
As a member of the Cosmos United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and held many positions within the church and community. She later joined Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Marian had a strong faith sharing it with family friends and anyone who needed direction. She held bible studies in her home and served as PTA President for Cosmos School, Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader and when asked to help she did her best to provide food, advice or labor. Marian enjoyed family outings riding Rupp mini-bikes, motorcycle rides and snowmobiling.
In 1974, Jim and Marian built their business of Uni-Hydro Inc. in Cosmos. This business took them around the world meeting dignitaries and new friends in places such as: Europe, Germany, Japan, Egypt, India and all domestic states.
In her later years, she liked reading, shopping, playing cards and board games. She loved being at their cabin on Lake Minnebelle whether it was a quiet night or total Family crazy! Marian was calm, kind, loving and giving and nothing mattered more in the world than the pride of her family.
Marian passed away at the Hutchinson Health Hospital in Hutchinson, Minnesota on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the age of 77 years.
