Marianne Emma Breyer

Obituary

Marianne Emma (Behning) Breyer was born on February 25, 1927, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Benkowski) Behning. She was baptized on March 13, 1927, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Helen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, by Pastor Zwintscher, and later confirmed in her faith on April 6, 1941, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota by Pastor A. F. Vomhof. She received her education at the Country School in Bergen Township, Minnesota.

On August 20, 1946, Marianne was united in marriage to Harold Breyer at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, by Pastor B. O. Streufert. The couple made their home in Glencoe. Marianne and Harold’s marriage was blessed with two children, Dale and Joanne. The couple shared 50 years of marriage until Harold passed away on June 29, 1997.

Marianne loved spending time at her lake home on Long Lake in Minnesota. A road trip to Texas was something she did not turn down. She loved to tell jokes and socialize with friends any chance she had.  Friends who were unable to leave their homes were paid a visit by Marianne often.  Marianne enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to Polka music, and playing cards, specifically Sheepshead and Rummikub. Marianne was a longtime member of First Evangelical Church in Glencoe and the church’s Ladies’ Aid Group; she is an honorary member to this day. Spending time with her family was something she truly cherished and it was mentioned that her special caramel bars will be greatly missed by many.

Marianne passed away on September 18, 2023, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe, Minnesota at the age of 96. Blessed be her memory.

Brother-in-law, Ernie Breyer and his wife, Jan of Glencoe, MN;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Bertha Behning; Husband, Harold Breyer; Brother, Elmer Behning; Sister, Ruth Kuenzel.
