Marie Louise Dietel was born on July 3, 1928, in Camden Township, Carver County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of August and Augusta (Weimann) Dietel. Marie was baptized as an infant on July 22, 1928, by Rev. E.U. Hafermann and was instructed in the doctrines of the Christian religion and confirmed on March 29, 1942, by Rev. G. Marie received her education in a one room school house in District 50 in Camden Township. When she started school, Marie could only speak German. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1947.
Marie had many fond memories of growing up on the family farm in rural Norwood Young America. As an adult, she took over all the household duties and helped with many of the farm chores. After the farm was sold in 1968, Marie started doing housework for various families. Her hard work ethics and friendly personality made her a very important part of their lives, many of whom treated her as family. Marie retired from housekeeping in 2009 at the age of 81.
Marie moved to The Harbor in Norwood Young America in 2015, at the age of 87. She was a lifelong member of Friedens (County Line) Church in rural Norwood Young America.
Marie was hardworking and always willing to help others. A wonderful cook and baker, who also canned many items. She made some fantastic wine that was still in crocks from the farm. The taste had aged wonderfully and seemed to have high alcohol content after an estimated 50 years in the crock. Marie’s beautiful perennial flower gardens were always in bloom throughout the season. She treasured the time spent with her family and friends. Marie was very social and attended every wedding, graduation or birthday party she was invited to. She was a happy participant in all the activities The Harbor had to offer and was always a positive person to be around. Marie had a great memory that didn’t fail her right up to her last moments. She was the person her family and friends called with just about any question. Marie lived by the Golden Rule and her happy, positive disposition and booming laugh will be missed by all that knew her.

Charles and Rose Venske says
I remember Marie’s big smile and small talk as she attended the Lion’s pancake breakfasts and the corn feeds. Also at many events at the church, she was always friendly and loved to talk. Our deepest sympathy to the family and know that she is happy in heaven tending the Lord’s flower gardens.
