Service Information

Marjorie J. Putney, age 90, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Interment will be held in the Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.

VFW and American Legion prayer service will be held 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel. 

Memorials are preferred.

Obituary

Marjorie Jean Putney was born on July 14, 1926, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Melvin and Florence (Newcomb) Laugeson. Marjorie was baptized at Franklin Street Baptist Church in Hutchinson. She received her education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1943.

On May 1, 1943, Marjorie was united in marriage to Norman Putney in Jamestown, North Dakota by the Army Chaplain. This marriage was blessed with five children. Marjorie and Norman resided in Hutchinson. They shared 61 years of marriage together until Norman passed away on January 18, 2005.

Marjorie worked at 3M, Corson’s, Hayden Shoes, and Braun’s National 5 and Dime. Marjorie also owned her own store - Marge’s Uniform and Maternity Shop. She retired in 1988.

Marjorie was the President of the American Legion Auxiliary from 1973-1975, President of the Women’s Bowling Association, and President of the Goal Seekers.  

Marjorie enjoyed playing cards, reading, and going to her Church’s prayer group. Marjorie loved going on trips with her family to Vegas.

When Marjorie needed end of life care, she became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on June 19, 2017. She passed away there on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the age of 90 years.

                LaVonne Daak of Hutchinson, MN,
                Kenneth Putney of Clarksville, TN;
Grandchildren, Shawn Daak, Lisa Micksch and her husband, Jonathan, Gary Daak, Matthew Gustafson and his wife, Erica, Amber Klawitter and her husband, Josh, Lindsay Theget and her husband, John;
Great-Grandchildren, Eric Micksch, Jessica Micksch, Andrew Micksch, Aaron Micksch, Brezlin Theget, Lavinia Theget, Riggins Theget, and Hawkins Klawitter;
Sister, Eunice Anglin of Hutchinson, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her Parents, Melvin and Florence Laugeson; Husband, Norman Putney; Sons, Gary Putney and Allen Putney; Sons-in-law, Dennis Gustafson and Wayne Daak; Brother, Errol Laugeson; and Brother-in-law, Milan Anglin.

    I loved my Aunt Margie. She was fun and witty even at 90 years young. She was my family historian and always had interesting stories to tell me each time we visited. You will be missed very much.
