Obituary
The man who gave his heart away
Mark Becker, age 51, formerly of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 15, 2021, after a long battle with congestive heart failure, at his sister’s home in Shorewood, Minnesota.
How is it that a young man would pass away from heart failure? I believe that he did it by continuously giving his heart away, to a point until there was little left to support his body.
Mark was a great gift giver. He loved giving and he enthusiastically gave a piece of his heart to each of these below;
To the northwoods / The ice covered lakes / The fields and country roads / The ocean / His snowmobiles / His boat / His fish house / His cars / His dogs.
To his patients that he cared for while working in the hospital / To the people in need at the Union Gospel Mission / The prisoners incarcerated in the local jails / To the special needs children that rode to school on his bus each day.
To strangers. Individuals with young families that were waiting on the heart transplant lists (he couldn't bring himself to add his name, knowing that it would mean someone else would have to do without) / To those in need of a helping hand / To people with vehicles stuck in the snow, or those walking on the road, and in need of a ride.
To his family. His son / His sister / His brother / His sister in law / His nephews and their families / His uncle's and His aunt's / His cousins / His friends / His church family.
And most importantly to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mark was strong enough to give and selflessly gave away his whole heart, and in doing so he followed our Lord's example of giving His heart away to all Humanity.
Go rest high on that mountain....
Mark was preceded in death by his father Julius Becker, his mother Lillian (Kruschek) Becker, his nephew Luke Becker, along with grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by his son Zech Johnson, his sister Sharon Becker, his brother David (Jody) Becker, his nephews Adam (Trina) Becker, Jacob (Grace) Becker, Peter Becker, great nephew Joshua Becker, and great niece Claire Becker.

Dear David, Jody, and family,
So glad you know the Lord and can cling to Him in your loss. He will never leave you or forsake you.
And it’s such a comfort to know Mark is now rejoicing in the Lord’s Presence.
God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble.
Jesus loves you,
Peace and love,

Even though our paths widened, Mark was a good friend for many years. He was indeed a caring and giving soal. His biggest legacy in the short time he was here with us will be his strong Faith in his Lord and Savior Jesue Christ. Mark will be missed by many. My prayers are with his family and friends.
Dan Mueller says
I am shocked and sadden to hear of the passing of Mark. I will always remember the fun times we had long ago, fixing bikes in his basement with his dad, ice fishing, and playing cards. Mark had a lust for life and a sense of caring for others. Even though I haven’t crossed paths with him in a while, I still mourn his untimely passing. I wish his family well.
Dale Venhuizen says
Mark was a good guy, unique and wonderful. I will miss seeing Mark around but I will always have the good memories of when we were younger. Whenever we did get together he always brought a smile to my face. I’m glad I got to know him.
My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and those who will also miss Mark.
